예레미야 10 :18 Jeremiah 10:18

여호와께서 이와 같이 말씀하시되 보라 내가 이 땅에 사는 자를 이번에는 내던질 것이라

그들을 괴롭게 하여 깨닫게 하리라 하셨느니라

For this is what the LORD says: "At this time I will hurl out those who live in this land; I will bring distress on them so that they may be captured.”

 

하나님이 유다 백성을 그 땅에서 쫓아내시겠다는 심판의 선언입니다.
역사적으로는 바벨론 포로를 예고하는 말씀입니다.

고난을 통해 하나님을 잊은 백성이 자신들의 죄를 깨닫게 하시려는 목적이 드러납니다.
하나님은 죄를 묵과하지 않으시고,  죄에 대한 징계를 통해 백성이 하나님께 돌아오기를 원하십니다.
고통과 환난은 단지 벌이 아니라 영적 각성의 수단입니다.
하나님은 자비로우셔서 우리를 벌하시는 것을  원치 않으십니다.

하지만 하나님은 의로우시기 때문에 우리 죄를 반드시 벌하십니다.

 

출애굽기 34:6~7 Exodus 34:6~7

6:여호와께서 그의 앞으로 지나시며 선포하시되 여호와라 여호와라 자비롭고 은혜롭고 노하기를 더디 하고

인자와 진실이 많은 하나님이라

And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, "The LORD, the LORD, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness,

7:인자를 천대까지 베풀며 악과 과실과 죄를 용서하리라 그러나 벌을 면제하지는 아니하고

아버지의 악행을 자손 삼사 대까지 보응하리라

maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation."
